What is a Visiting Student?

You are a Visiting Student if you are enrolled in a degree programme at another university and are authorized by your home university to take courses at RMCC. Except where a formal exchange agreement exists, a Visiting Student must provide a letter of permission from the home university in order to be approved for registration in an RMCC course.

What courses can a Visiting Student take?

A visiting student may enroll and complete any course for which they have a letter of permission from their Home University and provided they can show that they meet the pre-requisites of the individual course, if required. Visiting Students cannot take courses other than those that are pre-approved by their Home University. Students must ensure that they get proper permissions so that credits earned from RMCC can be transferred to their original University.

Am I guaranteed Admission as a Visiting Student?

RMCC takes care to make sure that there is space in the course that you want before you are admitted to the University as a Visiting Student. All courses offered through the Division of Continuing Studies have limited enrollment and all registrations require approval from the Division of Continuing Studies prior to admission as a Visiting Student. If there is no space available in the course of your choice, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

How do I apply as a Visiting Student?

  1. Fill out the RMCC Application for Admission for Undergraduate Studies and pay the application fee.
  2. Submit the appropriate supporting documentation:
    1. letter of permission from your current institution; and,
    2. Transcript showing proof of completion of prerequisites for the RMC course you wish to take, if applicable.
  3. Send the application, payment and documentation by mail to:

Do I need to re-apply as a Visiting Student?

Yes. Your letter of permission is specific to a certain course and you are admitted to RMCC only for the semester for which you are attending the course.
