The College Chief Warrant Officer
Chief Warrant Officer J.M. Chiasson, CD
Chief-warrant officer Chiasson was born in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. He grew up in Montreal and joined the CF in September 1977 at CFRC Montréal. He completed his recruit training in St-Jean and was posted to l’École technique des Forces canadiennes still in St-Jean and shortly after to the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston where he completed his QL3 Radio Technician course.
In May 1979, he was posted to CFB Greenwood and in January 1981 to the Headquarters and Signals Squadron at CFB Petawawa where he completed his training.
In July 1985, he was posted to 5 Service Battalion, Maintenance Company in Valcartier as a section supervisor and promoted to the rank of MCpl.
He was promoted to the rank of Sgt in 1990 and posted to the School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston as an instructor and supervisor of the Land Tactical Communication Training Cell.
In 1991, he was posted to the 1st Canadian Division Headquarters and Signals Regiment, still in Kingston as the Telecom Shop Supervisor. During his tour at the Regiment, he took part in the United Nation Mission in Rwanda from July 1994 to January 1995 as the Op Sgt.
He was posted with promotion to the rank of WO in August 1995 for a second tour with 5 Service Battalion later becoming the General Support Battalion. During his stay, he had the roles of Shop Supervisor, 2IC and IC Weapons and Electronics platoon and Company Sergeant-Major. From March to September 1996, he deployed to Haiti as the NSE Ops Warrant-Officer.
In April 2000, he was posted with promotion to Master-Warrant Officer to the Head Quarter & Signals Squadron in Valcartier as the Brigade Foreman of Signals. In 2003, promoted to his current rank, he was posted to NDHQ Ottawa as the LCIS Career Manager.
In June of 2005, he was appointed 5 ASG Signals Services Chief-Warrant Officer and was posted to their Headquarters located in Montreal. In July 2008, he is appointed College Sergeant-Major of the Royal Military College in Kingston.
Chief-Warrant Officer Chiasson enjoys all types of physical training activities.
