Varsity Taekwondo
The RMC varsity (WTF) Taekwondo team has a long, glorious history representing the Royal Military College of Canada and the Canadian Forces. Founded in 1991, the team has had many historical successes. Officer Cadets Natalie Lund, Peter Wight, John Kim, Joey Ring, Eric Kuehnle and Vanessa Larochelle-Meilleur have all won medals at either the Canadian national or International levels, with Natalie Lund winning the 1993 CISM World Championships gold medal and more recently Vanessa Larochelle Meilleur representing Canada at the 2009 World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Taekwondo team has fourteen members, consisting of both male and female Officer Cadets. The team follows a periodized training program four times per week, from September to late March.
The Taekwondo team is a WTF sparring competition team, which competes at Provincial, National and International level competitions through its membership with the Ontario Taekwondo Association (OTA), WTF Canada and the Canadian Forces Taekwondo Association. RMC varsity Taekwondo athletes also compete with other university level athletes through the Ontario University Taekwondo Competition League (OUTCL).
Our team members have the added opportunity to represent Canada and the Canadian Forces at the CISM Military Taekwondo World Championships through the Conseil International de Sport Militaire (CISM) and at the Fédération Internationale de Sport Universitaire (FISU) World University Taekwondo Championships.
