2013 Joining Instructions
Welcome letter
1000-1 (DCdts)
19 April 2013
Dear Future Officer Cadet:
I would like to commend you on your decision to join the Canadian Forces (CF) and to pursue a higher education at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC). Throughout the CF, Canadians like yourself are serving and representing Canada in many important operations both at home and abroad. Your arrival at the RMCC Kingston on 7 August 2013, will mark the start of an intensive period of preparation for your chosen career in the profession of arms. RMCC itself is an historical institution proud of its 137 years of tradition in academic and athletic excellence, and military service to Canada. Our graduates have distinguished themselves not only as military leaders but in other pursuits and professions as well.
You already have a general idea from your recruiter of your terms of service and obligations under your service contract. You will find enclosed with this letter, the RMCC 2013 Joining Instructions which will help you prepare for your arrival at the College. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that you must successfully complete your final academic year at high school and remain physically and medically fit for service in the CF. The latter will play a key role in your success at the Canadian Forces Language and Recruit School (CFLRS) in St-Jean, Quebec, where you will participate in a 14 day recruit camp commencing 12 August 2013. Recruit camp will not only test your leadership skills, but also your mental stamina and physical fitness. If you meet the required standard, you will return to RMCC on 24 August 2013, to march through the Arch and, upon doing so, join an institution that will provide you with an excellent education and foundation for a challenging and rewarding career as a leader in the CF.
We at the College look forward to greeting you on your arrival this summer.
J.G.P. Lemyre

Director of Cadets
